Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launches the first public umbrella for sectoral skills councils in Egypt

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Egyptian Manpower Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), at the end of this week, to establish the first platform for sectoral skills councils to overlook all skills councils in Egypt and coordinate between skills councils in all sectors. The aforementioned MoU aims to raise the efficiency of the Egyptian labor market, develop the technical education and vocational training system, and clarify the methodological tools that will be used to measure progress in its achievement.H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that this platform comes within the framework of the plan of the National Structural Reform Program (NSRP), whose implementation the Ministry is supervising; It supports the initiatives and projects undertaken by the Ministry to raise the efficiency of the labor market.The Minister of Planning and Economic Development confirmed that the ministry will provide the appropriate institutional framework to establish and develop an umbrella to support the establishment of sectoral skills councils as platforms aimed at improving the efficiency of the labor market, as well as contributing to ensuring the quality of educational and training services.Dr. Hala El-Said continued that the ministry will also coordinate with the Egypt Workforce Project and in partnership with all ministries, agencies, and relevant bodies representing the private sector, civil society, and development partners to develop a strategy for establishing and developing sectorial skills councils and communicating with international bodies similar to the established councils.
