12 February 2022
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced the launch of the "Human Development Forum", in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, represented by the Supreme Council of Universities.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the forum comes as an integrated program that seeks to create areas for dialogue with young people and open channels of continuous communication with them.
El-Said indicated that the forum aims to raise university youth awareness of the principles and goals of human development through a set of activities that include seminars, lectures, training, and competition in providing innovative solutions and development projects to find solutions to national or local issues.
El-Said added that among the objectives of the forum, university students became familiar with human development and linked it to public policies and development projects that the Egyptian government is working on, within the framework of the axes addressed in the Egyptian Human Development Report 2021.
The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the student competitions consist of two competitions that are being worked on under the umbrella of the Forum so that the activities in both activities depend on the formation of research teams from graduate students and final year students at the undergraduate level.
The first competition, "Development Project", is based on preparing projects that are applicable at the local or national level in specific areas that intersect with the issues addressed in the Egyptian Human Development Report 2021.
These issues include the economic and social empowerment of women, environmentally friendly projects, support for the health system, innovations to improve public service, and include issues of governance, combating corruption, and improving public services.
Five public universities are scheduled to participate in this year's forum, as a first stage, including Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Port Said, Beni Suef, and Mansoura.
