The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the Strategic Management Unit, launched the Project, Program, and Performance Management Work Guide. The aforementioned guide came within the framework of the Ministry’s work to provide the necessary support to the units of the state’s administrative apparatus in the field of project management, programs, and performance.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the guide was prepared based on practical methodologies and international best practices to constitute the basic reference for the project management process, programs, and performance in the administrative body.
The manual lays out the mechanisms, methodologies, and procedures for initiating, planning, implementing, as well as monitoring, controlling, and effectively closing projects and programs.
El-Said explained that the guide clarifies the different stages, processes, steps, and models needed to manage projects and programs, and shows roles, responsibilities, and timings.
She also pointed out that the guide sets a unified methodology for all units of the administrative apparatus, which achieves integration between those units and helps unify efforts and achieve better and more effective results.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and supervisor of strategic management, indicated that the guide helps institutions implement the strategy and achieve the goals and objectives included in the strategic plan.
Mustafa stressed that the effective implementation of projects, programs, and strategic projects portfolios helps to achieve the desired goals and benefits and to complete work within the limits of the terms, budgets, scope, resources, and quality requirements specified for the project or program. Eng. Khaled Mustafa stated that the guide guarantees setting priorities that help in selecting and implementing the right projects and programs that are compatible with the strategic plan, thus maximizing the return from their implementation. The guide ensures that the goals that will be reflected on the success of the state in carrying out its role in improving the standard of living of the individual are achieved. To view and download the electronic version of the Project, Program, and Performance Management Work Guide, click the link for the strategic management publications.
