The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development reviewed the strategic objectives, programs, and projects of the 21/2222 plan for the youth and sports services sector.
In its report, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development referred to the sector’s vision, which was represented in “leadership and excellence in improving the quality of life of Egyptian youth and developing their lifestyle, through the axes of comprehensive youth and sports development.” The report also presented the message specific to the sector, as the report confirmed the state's keenness with its various agencies and bodies to assume some responsibilities, including launching a national policy for youth and sports in which all segments of society participate, and providing decent and dignified job opportunities for young people through small and medium enterprises.The sector’s message also included transforming youth centers and youth and sports facilities into centers for serving the family and society, and supporting youth participation in discussing national issues and identifying their views, while using sport as an effective tool in developing and supporting the values of citizenship and belonging.The report of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development also dealt with the sector’s strategic goals, the most prominent of which, according to the report, is in enhancing the effectiveness of sports in achieving the national program for building the Egyptian person, and developing cultural, scientific and sports awareness among young people and youth.
The strategic objectives, according to the report, also included developing youth centers to become community development centers, activating community participation, and team and volunteer work, while attracting investments in the sports and youth field, and raising the operational efficiency of sports departments and institutions.For her part, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development affirmed the state's keenness to prepare young people and rehabilitate them intellectually and physically, as they are the largest segment of the population, the most dynamic and capable of participating in national action.
El-Said added that recognizing the importance of utilizing the tremendous energies of youth in advancing development, the state is keen to provide youth and sports services to prepare, refine and develop human cadres and expand their participation in public life.
Regarding the programs and projects for the youth and sports services sector in the 21/22-20 plan, El-Said explained that the investments allocated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports amount to EGP 1.6 billion, including EGP 1.5 billion public treasury funding, and EGP 100 million from self-resources.
