Kamali stressed the importance of the role of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in preparing for the upcoming COP27 Conference of Parties to Climate Change.
Kamali pointed to the need to coordinate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the preparation of the various events on the sidelines of the conference, in line with the direction of the Egyptian presidency of the Conference of Parties and contribute to its success.
Kamali also explained the Ministry of Planning's interest in including the environmental dimension within various national plans and strategies and international reports, chief among them: updating the sustainable development strategy (Egypt Vision 2030), and the third voluntary national report, which was presented during the high-level political forum for sustainable development in New York.
Kamali added that the great interest in the environmental dimension was also reflected in the projects listed in Chapter Six, through the application of environmental sustainability standards, increasing the share of green projects to 30% of the state's investment plan for the year 2021-2022, and reaching that percentage to 50% in 2024-2025.
For his part, Ambassador Mohamed Nasr reviewed all aspects and topics related to the United Nations Climate Change Agreement and the Paris Agreement, including the principles, provisions, and objectives of those agreements, pointing to the development of the negotiations.
On the importance of the COP27 conference for Egypt, Nasr explained that its importance at the national level lies in helping to achieve communication and coordination between ministries and various agencies regarding climate change.

The ambassador also stressed the opportunities offered by climate finance, and the importance of Egypt taking advantage of these opportunities to mobilize resources through grants or to reduce the cost of loans for projects that have a positive impact on climate issues, whether in the field of reducing emissions or adapting to climate changes.
