The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - launched the first guide in Arabic for the main terms and definitions related to governance.
The guide includes a wide range of terms used in many international organizations related to the field of governance.
Dr. Sharifa Al-Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, said that the guide aims to provide all interested parties with clear, specific, and unified definitions of terms and concepts commonly used in the field of governance.
Al-Sharif indicated that there are three basic uses for this guide, including; providing a guide for any organization interested in the concepts of governance and improving its understanding of them, and ensuring a consistent approach when using relevant terms while facilitating and standardizing the meaning when translating them into Arabic.
Al-Sharif also emphasized that governance is a basic requirement to ensure the development of the administrative apparatus, and to make rational decisions that take into account the requirements and expectations of all parties.
Al-Sharif pointed out that governance as a monitoring tool aims to set rules and principles for managing and controlling organizations and institutions, achieving justice and transparency, and ensuring the right to accountability, in addition to distributing roles and responsibilities through tight organizational structures.
It is noteworthy that the guide to the main terms and definitions related to governance; is a living document that is constantly updated, in conjunction with the continuous and wide development witnessed by the field of governance.
