The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launches the first issue of the follow-up report on program budgets and performance at the sectoral level

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development launched the first issue of the follow-up report on program budgets and performance at the sectoral level, which covers the period from (18/2019) to (20/2021), reviews all development programs in various sectors, and links them to sustainable development goals.


Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the ministry attaches great importance to activating the program and performance system, so it was keen to create a legislative and regulatory environment for it.
This was done through the General Planning Law, which emphasized clearly the adoption of programs and performance methodology to ensure integration between investment and current spending within the framework of an integrated plan.

The Ministry of Planning also attaches great importance to activating the program and performance system through the establishment of the Programs and Performance Unit in the Ministry, as well as organizing training programs to enhance the capabilities of workers in various government agencies, benefiting more than 4,000 planning and follow-up officials.


Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister for Follow-up Affairs of the Sustainable Development Plan, explained that for the first time, the program budget follow-up and performance reports for the last three years (18/2019 - 20/2021) are included as indicators to measure the performance of the gender-responsive plan and integrate the environmental dimension into development plans.

Helmy explained that the first issue of the program and performance budget follow-up report is for the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.

The first issue includes the basic features of all the programs implemented by the ministry and its affiliated entities, detailed data on the financial appropriations directed to implementing the programs, the most important performance indicators at the level of final outputs, as well as the strategic and developmental impact of each program separately.


The report shows that 12 sub-programs were implemented through 7 agencies affiliated with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, at a total cost of 48.5 billion pounds (55 percent of which belongs to Chapter Six), during the period (18/2019 - 20/2021), resulting in The completion of the implementation of 735 development projects, at a total cost of 11.4 billion pounds (including 277 projects in (20/2021) for EGP 5.8 billion).



The report indicated that within the framework of the state's efforts to confront climate change, 17 km of canals and drains within residential blocks were covered, 71 km of protections were implemented for coasts and beaches, and 16.8 km of beaches were fed from the product of the Tikrit operations.

 The report indicated that 2,622 events (seminars, films, pamphlets, and advertising campaigns) were organized to raise awareness of the importance of water conservation and improving its use.


The report emphasized the state's interest in integrating the environmental dimension into development plans and increasing the percentage of green investments.

 The report pointed out that the rehabilitation and lining of canals with a length of 2.200 km have been completed, benefiting 1.4 million feddans, including 1.900 km in (20/2021), in 21 governorates, the most important of which are Minya, Beni Suef, Qena, Aswan, Sharkia, Beheira, Dakahlia As well as the maintenance and disinfection of 22.300 km of canals and torrents.


The report indicated the provision of 13.6 billion m3 of groundwater, which was exploited for the cultivation of 850 thousand feddans, of which 400 thousand feddans in (20/2021), in the governorates of (Minya, Assiut, Matrouh, New Valley), pointing out that 37,000 citizens benefited from the Sinai development projects.
