Main / Media / News / Rowad 2030 Project runs discussion session on “Innovation & Entrepreneurship Role in Economic Development”

19 December 2021

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by the Rowad 2030 Project (ENTREPRENEURS 2030), held a discussion session entitled "Innovation and Entrepreneurship and their Role in Economic Development", with the participation of many Egyptian entrepreneurs, at the headquarters of the Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Dr. Ghada Khalil, director of the Rowad 2030 project, said that the Egyptian government pays great attention to the entrepreneurship and youth system to achieve sustainable economic development in Egypt.
Khalil added that the Egyptian economy has witnessed great growth during the past five years, despite the repercussions of the emerging Coronavirus, as Egypt came among a limited number of countries in the world that achieved positive growth in light of the pandemic, with low unemployment rates and a noticeable decline in the inflation rate.
Khalil pointed out that the growth rate is expected to range between 5.5% to 5.7% in 2021-2022, adding that public investments played a catalytic role in advancing economic growth in addition to the Egyptian state's adoption of an important structural reforms plan.

Khalil explained that Egypt's 2030 vision is ambitious and one of its most important pillars is to build people and raise the efficiency and skills of young people to contribute to economic development in Egypt, and to have an effective role.
Khalil added that Egypt occupies an advanced position in terms of the number of startups and their contribution to the economy in general, and is ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa in terms of investment in startups.
Khalil explained that financing witnessed a significant boom in the previous period, at a rate of approximately 250% in 2021, and it is constantly increasing, noting that supporting the entrepreneurship system helps create job opportunities, diversify sources of income and contribute to the advancement of the economy as a whole.
Khalil also confirmed that the Rowad 2030 project takes into account the sustainable development goals, explaining that the project won three important awards this year, as the project was listed at the beginning of this year on the United Nations platforms as one of the projects that achieve the sustainable development goals.
The project also won the Excellence Award as the best project that uses technology to serve the community, as well as the award for the best sustainable Arab project.
During her speech, Khalil referred to the role played by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, especially the "Be an Ambassador" initiative, which aims to raise awareness of the sustainable development goals.
It is worth noting that the session witnessed a wide presence from the United Arab Emirates, especially those interested in the entrepreneurship system, in addition to representatives from Banque Misr and many diplomatic missions in the sisterly Emirates.
