The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) held the training program "Building the Capacities of National Cadres in the Field of Digital Transformation and Combating Corruption" in cooperation with the United Nations University in Guimarães, Portugal.Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), explained that the training program comes in light of cooperation between the institute and various international universities and institutes in the fields of training, capacity development, and raising the efficiency of individuals and institutions. This is the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between NIGSD and the United Nations University represented in the Operational Unit of the United Nations University on e-governance policies. This cooperation seeks to develop and build the human capacities of the state’s administrative apparatus in the areas of institutional governance, digital governance, and digital transformation.Sherif indicated that 17 senior management employees from several bodies, including judicial bodies, participated in the training program. Sherif explained that the program was designed specifically for the state's administrative apparatus, as it focuses on the main points, including the advantages and risks associated with digital transformation, the need for comprehensive policies to combat corruption and the identification of general principles of digital transformation and criminal investigation.During the opening activities of the training program on its first day, Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of the Business Development and Human Resources Department at the Institute, on behalf of Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the Institute, handed over the shield of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development to the university.
The training program concluded with field visits to the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Lisbon. The trainees also attended a celebration session on International Anti-Corruption Day. They also visited the Lisbon Court of Accounts and the Corruption Prevention Council (CPC), the supreme body charged with monitoring the legality of public expenditures and evaluating the accounts submitted to it by law.
