The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held two workshops for university leaders, deputy governors, and leaders of the Ministry of Supply and Real Estate and the Postal Authority, intending to introduce the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence and its categories.
These workshops took place under the supervision of the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence team headed by Eng. Khaled Mustafa, permanent agent of the ministry and general supervisor of the award.Eng. Khaled Mostafa, the permanent representative of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and General Supervisor of the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence, reviewed the winners and their categories concerning the participating parties in the workshop.Mostafa explained that the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence was launched in 2018, where a cooperation program was launched with the United Arab Emirates, explaining the reason for using the Emirates because they have a sustainable experience based on scientific bases and internationally recognized models.Mostafa added that the award’s vision was to reach distinguished and superior governmental institutions and bodies in all aspects of performance to improve the quality of life of the Egyptian citizen, enhance the leadership and competitiveness of the Egyptian state.Mustafa added that the award represents a culture change in an unconventional way, as she chose Masar by focusing on positive models and their excellence and presenting them to support the competition element. Mustafa explained that the purpose of the award is a transformation in the culture of government work to achieve two goals, the first of which is a direct goal for the citizen to improve the quality of services provided to the citizen, and the other is related to improving the competitiveness of countries.Mostafa said that the idea of ​​selecting only 3 winners for each award is because more than what is required, that is, the most distinguished, is being sought, adding that the award team at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development is currently working with the State of Kenya to transfer the Egyptian experience regarding the award.


Ms. Soha Said, Executive Director of the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence, reviewed the pillar of capacity building in terms of tasks and responsibilities, explaining that it consists in absorbing the government excellence system, spreading the concepts of government excellence and the system standards in the entity, with the formation of a work team for excellence in the entity.Saeed stressed the importance of providing a database for colleges concerning participants from university leaders, explaining that there are two people whose role is very important, namely the general coordinator and the ambassador of excellence, who is responsible for the candidacy file within the entity, stressing the need to facilitate the role of the general coordinator responsible for providing all applications from the entity.Regarding the support of ambassadors of excellence concerning the training of university leaders, Saeed pointed to the need to facilitate the tasks of ambassadors of excellence by communicating with departments and communicating with deans of colleges about the importance of responding to the requirements of ambassadors of excellence.On his part, Dr. Mohamed El-Mohammadi, Evaluation Director of the Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence, talked about the governmental institutional excellence model, explaining that it includes the axis of achieving the vision by 60%, which includes Egypt’s Vision 2030, the main tasks, and seven-star services, as well as the smart government.
