The Ministerial Committee for the Development of Egyptian Exports to African Countries held its first meeting under the presidency of Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and in the presence of the ministers; Counselor Omar Marawan, Minister of Justice, Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, Hisham Tawfik, Minister of Public Business Sector, Mr. Al-Qusair, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation.

Moreover, the meeting witnessed the presence of Ambassador Hamdi Loza, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, and Dr. Osama El-Gohary, Director of the Information and Decision Support Center in the Cabinet, Dr. Jihan Saleh, Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and other several banks as well as the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI).At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the Prime Minister’s decision No. 263 of 2021 to form the committee.She also highlighted the most important tasks assigned to it within the framework of the Egyptian state’s direction to strengthen cooperation relations with African countries to double exports and the volume of trade exchange with African countries by 2025.During the meeting, Dr. Mohamed Fathi Saqr, Advisor to the Minister of Planning, reviewed a detailed study on the current situation and a proposed plan to increase and develop trade exchange with African countries.Saqr explained the most important challenges and opportunities available, which the study concluded, and a proposed action plan to develop Egyptian exports to Africa.The attendees agreed to study the proposed work plan and lay down the executive steps for each ministry and body represented in the committee in preparation for presentation to the Prime Minister.
