Egypt’s NIGSD holds the training program “Internal Audit Work System” for employees of the Ministry of Military Production

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - held its training program "Internal Audit Work System" for the employees of the Internal Audit Unit at the Ministry of Military Production, which is implemented over 5 separate training days during the period from 2 to 9 November 2021.
Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), said that the basic rationale for creating an internal audit unit is the importance of optimal use of available resources and verifying the effective implementation of the policies and plans of the state’s administrative apparatus, where internal audit represents one of the main lines of defense to protect public funds and resources.
El-Sherif indicated that the goal of the training program is to introduce the concept of governance and internal auditing, its importance and emergence, especially for the government apparatus, to identify the mechanism of work of the internal audit department and the most important roles assigned to it, and to determine the optimal formation of the internal audit department and the skills required.
Moreover, the goal includes defining the most important responsibilities and powers of the Internal Audit Department and the scope of its work, clarifying the importance of the internal audit work plan and how to prepare it, clarifying the dimensions of internal audit.
The pillars of the training program are divided into several pillars; it includes an introduction to internal auditing and governance, the process of establishing the internal audit department, the internal audit department's work mechanism and the most important roles assigned to it, the components of the internal audit system, the stages of implementing its annual plan, types of internal audit, and best practices for improving its effectiveness.
