Ministry of Planning and Economic Development organizes a seminar on the Human Development Report in Egypt 2021 at Expo 2020 Dubai

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development organized a seminar entitled “Human Development Report in Egypt 2021” that discussed Egypt’s recent development report that was released under the title of "Development is a Right for All: Egypt is the Path and March".
The aforementioned seminar reviewed the development process of Egypt during the past decade in the areas of sustainable development; from the perspective of the “Right to Development” declaration issued For the United Nations General Assembly in 1986.The seminar was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Planning Affairs, Dr. Heba Mogheib, Head of the Regional Planning Sector at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Khaled Zakaria, supervisor of the United Nations Human Development Report in Egypt, and Ms. Maria Oliveira, the director of innovation for the Middle East and Africa region at Ernst & Young.Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Planning Affairs, said that this report acquires special importance because it comes ten years after the publication of the last human development report in 2010.The report deals with the period from 2011 to 2020, which witnessed many challenges along with a great popular movement that led to a change in the course of its development process.Kamali noted that the report reviews all aspects of comprehensive development that the Egyptian state is currently undergoing in various fields and throughout the Republic.Dr. Heba Mogheeb, Head of the Regional Planning Sector at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the international community quickly realized that each country has its peculiarity and different nature from the rest of the countries, which prompted Egypt to start settling the UN goals for sustainable development and laying out a road plan that suits the Egyptian situation.
Maghaib pointed out that the ministry launched many initiatives to promote the process of localizing these goals at the level of each Egyptian governorate, the most important of which is the issuance of the report on the localization of the UN goals for sustainable development, the governorate competitiveness index, and the governance index.For his part, Dr. Khaled Zakaria, supervisor of the United Nations Human Development Report in Egypt, indicated that the report focused on 3 main pillars.
These pillars are Economic Development, Social Development, and Environmental Sustainability, which are elements that ultimately lead to sustainable human development.He pointed out that the Egyptian state has committed itself during the past years to introducing fundamental reforms in the fields of health, education, and adequate housing, with a focus on dimensions related to quality and competitiveness.Mrs. Maria Oliveira, Director of Innovation for the Middle East and Africa at Ernst & Young, referred to the importance of the elements covered in the report on Egypt's efforts to make a major leap in the field of women's empowerment, both socially and economically, digital economic transformation, the provision of microfinance and the incentive package available to the Small and medium projects.
