Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence honors 57 state employees

The ceremony of announcing the Egypt Awards for Government Excellence took place on Tuesday under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the President of the Republic, and in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Mohamed Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future in the United Arab Emirates.
The ceremony also witnessed the participation of some ministers and the announcement of the winners of the first three places in each of the 19 institutional and individual award categories, in which 57 individuals and institutions were honored.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said in her speech at the ceremony that was held at the Presidential Koubbeh Palace that despite the great challenges faced by various countries of the world as a result of the repercussions of the "Covid 19" virus, there was a great determination to continue working and not stop the journey towards excellence.
El-Said added that work and scrutiny continued to reward those who worked hard and excelled in their institutions, despite these difficult circumstances.
El-Said elaborated that the award will contribute to the improvement of government services, facilitate citizens and support the state's plans towards achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
El-Said referred to the insistence of the award work team to continue the work of the second session so that the fruits of this work will be reaped by announcing the names of the winners in each of the award categories and honoring them.
El-Said added that the Egypt Award for Government Excellence was launched in 2018 under the patronage of the President of the Republic and in cooperation with the sisterly United Arab Emirates, which aims at expertise, experiences, and best practices in the areas of developing institutional performance, government services, innovation, and excellence.
El-Said added that the cooperation between Egypt and the UAE regarding the Government Excellence Award adds to the balance of the growing relations between the two countries in various fields, which enjoy the interest and support of the political leadership in both countries.
El-Said stressed that the cooperation between the two countries is a model for Arab cooperation relations.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, El-Said announced that next year will witness the introduction of the so-called (Secret Shopper), a hidden resident who goes to receive service as an ordinary citizen to evaluate the services provided to citizens.
Regarding the expansion of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, El-Said explained that the award has already expanded, as the number of colleges that applied for candidacy doubled, despite the presence of the Covid-19 pandemic, with an increase in the number of candidates by 34%, which reflects that the award enjoys impartiality and transparency without any interference.
El-Said explained that the candidates for the award felt its role in self-development, in addition to a fair and transparent evaluation, which encouraged others to progress, despite the pandemic, which prompted many countries with this type of award to stop them or reduce their numbers.
On the completion of the steps of the structural and administrative apparatus of the state, El-Said explained that the structural reform plan that was launched last April includes two parts, the most prominent of which is the real economy by increasing the components of the real economy from the sectors of agriculture, industry, communications and information technology, which raises the relative weight of the sectors.
El-Said added that these sectors work on intersecting axes, most notably the labor market, technical education, and governance axis, in addition to the axis of financial inclusion, as well as the axis of the role of the private sector and the facilitation of procedures to stimulate the private sector to further participate in the development process.
During his speech at the ceremony yesterday, Eng. Khaled Mostafa reviewed the journey of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence from the first cycle to the second cycle, and the most important developments in the award cycle 2020.
Mustafa pointed out that the award is divided into institutional and individual categories, with the addition of 4 new categories to the award in its second session, represented in health offices, catering offices, the award for the distinguished government employee, and the award for the distinguished work team.

Mustafa added that 6,600 employees of the coordinators and ambassadors of excellence were trained before the start of the pandemic, in addition to holding several virtual interactive sessions, watched by more than 20,000 employees and in which leaders from the UAE participated, with the number of training hours reaching about 107,000 hours.
Mustafa indicated that the award has two specific objectives, which are to improve the quality of life for citizens by improving services and increasing the state's competitiveness, which will also benefit the citizen.
