Eng. Khaled Mostafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and supervisor of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence, said that the award was launched at the Government Excellence Conference in 2018 through a partnership with the United Arab Emirates, noting that the first cycle included 15 categories.This came during the ceremony to announce the Egypt Awards for Government Excellence, which was held today under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.Eng. Khaled Mostafa reviewed the journey of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence from the first cycle to the second cycle, and the most important developments in the award cycle 2020, noting that the award is divided into institutional and individual categories.He added that four new categories have been added to the award in their second cycles, which are health offices, and supply offices, distinguished Government Employee Award and distinguished Work Team Award.Mustafa explained that the criteria for the Service Units Award were changed to the criteria of the international star system for evaluating government services, adding that several training and educational workshops were held for government agencies to increase the percentage of trainees in government agencies by 50% over the first session. He added that 6,600 employees of the coordinators and ambassadors of excellence were trained before the beginning of the pandemic, in addition to holding some virtual interactive sessions, watched by more than 20,000 employees and in which leaders from the UAE participated, with the number of training hours reaching about 107,000 hours.


Eng. Khaled Mustafa also talked about the evaluation processes, explaining that the evaluation process in the second session included 45 days, compared to 30 days in the first session in 2019, adding that 100% of the electronic transformation of the nomination process for that session was completed. The evaluation process also included a desk and consensual evaluation of the electronic applications remotely, noting that there was a noticeable improvement in the level of candidacy applications compared to the previous session, represented by a 14% decrease in exclusion compared to 39% in the previous session.Eng. Khaled Mustafa continued the discussion about the evaluation process, noting that the total participating evaluators reached 136 evaluators, an increase of 20% over the last session, with the participation of residents from Jordan and Sudan and quality committees from the UAE. Mustafa added that the current session witnessed an increase in field visits to 151 field visits, compared to 133 visits in the first session. He added that the evaluation teams traveled more than 63,000 km during the field visits, to continue working hours for more than 80,000 working hours during the evaluation phase.Mustafa concluded his speech by explaining that the award has two specific objectives, which are to improve the quality of life for citizens by improving services and increasing the state’s competitiveness, which will also benefit the citizen.
