Egypt Government Excellence Awards to be announced tomorrow

The activities of announcing the Egypt Government Excellence Awards will take place on Tuesday, at Qubba Palace under the patronage of the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala El-Said, and several ministers and guests of honor from the United Arab Emirates.
The ceremony will witness the announcement of the names of the three winners in each of the categories of the award, the first of which is the Individual Excellence Award, which includes the best government employee, the best work team. There are also the Institutional Innovation and Creativity Award, Distinguished Sites in Providing Government Services Award, Distinguished Leaders Awards, and the award for the Distinguished Unit in Providing Government Services, as well as the Distinguished Institution Award.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the Egypt Government Excellence Awards comes in light of the sustainable development plan "Egypt Vision 2030", which requires the formation of an efficient, effective, court-appointed administrative body that, in turn, contributes to achieving development and responds to citizens.
El-Said added that believing in the role of the Egyptian government in achieving the goals of the reform orientation adopted by the state to advance the Egyptian state, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development was keen to make a qualitative leap in institutional performance through the “Egypt Award for Governmental Excellence.”
“This is to develop human capabilities through the presence of a national award for government excellence that promotes an atmosphere of positive, effective, and constructive competition and the consolidation of the principles and values of excellence in all sectors of the country,” El-Said added.
El-Said explained that the current session witnessed 3,059 candidates and the participation of 2,000 institutions, for 19 awards with a total of 90,000 working hours.
For his part, Eng. Khaled Mostafa, General Supervisor of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence and Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, indicated that the second cycle of the award witnessed the creation of 4 new categories, including awards for the best government employee, best work team, best health office, and best catering office.
Mustafa explained that the second cycle witnessed a 100% electronic transformation of the application and evaluation processes, which contributed significantly to reducing the percentage of exclusions to 14% instead of 39% in the first cycle, adding that a group of experts from Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and some nationalities participated in the evaluation.
The award work team also held some field visits to government agencies participating in the award to discuss the reports and recommendations that were monitored during the evaluation phase of the award’s second cycle 2020.
The important stations in the schedule for the second phase of the award included several stations, the first of which was participation in the award, then completing the data of the entities, followed by training on the award criteria, then the stage of holding workshops to write candidacy applications, follow up on the activation of the system in the entity, and submit applications for candidacy, then the evaluation stage and field visits, the judging stage, the results appearing, and finally the award ceremony.
