Minister of Planning & Economic Development discusses the implementation of President El-Sisi's mandates regarding the Human Development Report in Egypt 2021

Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held a meeting with Dr. Adel Abdel Latif, UN expert and advisor to the Human Development Report in Egypt 2021 “Development, a Right for All: Egypt’s pathways and prospects” and Dr. Khaled Zakaria, the report’s lead author, to study the assignments of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi President related to the report.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), and Ambassador Hazem Khairat, Advisor to the Minister of Planning for International Cooperation.
El-Said said that the Human Development Report in Egypt 2021 is one of the most important international reports that monitor the status of human development worldwide.
El-Said pointed out that the report reflects the capacity of the Egyptian state and its keenness to produce and make data available. The report also addresses all development issues, making it an accurate monitor of the state of development in Egypt with its challenges and achievements.
The meeting discussed the study of the effects and costs of conflicts in the Middle East and their impact on the development process. The attendees also discussed the start of preparing human development reports at the governorate level, in line with the strategy of settling the sustainable development goals.
During the meeting, it was also agreed to hold some meetings with experts and relevant ministries to study the results of the report and include them in the strategic plans of each ministry, and to develop executive programs to deal with the results of the report.
Moreover, it was agreed to start the steps of issuing the next human development report in 2023 in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program.
