Egypt's Minister of Planning approves EGP 200 million for Assiut University hospital projects

Dr Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, agreed to approve an amount of EGP 200 million for Assiut University Hospitals.
The approved monetary amount will be dedicated to complete the construction of the Injury and Emergency Center building, develop buildings, and establishing a dialysis unit at university hospitals.
El-Said explained that the approved amount includes the allocation of EGP 185 million for the first project concerned with completing the Injuries and Emergency Center, which is expected to open next January.
This is in addition to EGP 15 million for a project to develop an existing building to establish a dialysis unit at Assiut University Hospitals.
El-Said noted that the total cost of the first project amounted to about EGP 860 million.
El-Said emphasized that the project complete the Trauma and Emergency Center represents a qualitative leap in the field of emergency in the governorate in particular and in Upper Egypt in general.
"Assiut University is distinguished by the presence of distinguished medical cadres, which makes its hospitals a center for medical service seekers in all Upper Egypt governorates," She said.
The project to construct the Trauma and Emergency Center building consists of the hospital, which includes 8 floors other than the ground and basement, with a capacity of 478 beds, in addition to the operating rooms and intensive care, the microscopic surgery building, the hospital service building, and the tunnel linking the trauma hospital and other Assiut University hospital buildings.
Regarding the second project, which is a project to develop an existing building to establish a dialysis unit at Assiut University Hospitals, El-Said explained that the unit comes with a capacity of 76 dialysis machines for EGP 26 million.
El-Said indicated that an amount of EGP 15 million was allocated to equip the unit with dialysis treatment units and the necessary equipment to start its operation in June 2022.
