The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development organizes a series of workshops on the fields of its work

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held a series of interactive lectures and workshops on the most important programs and projects of the ministry, in which the leaders of the ministry attended, within the framework of the activities of the second session of the summer training program for university students 2021 which was launched by the ministry in mid-July.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, stressed the ministry's keenness to develop the skills of young people, raise their capabilities, and provide them with the information and knowledge necessary to qualify them to enter the labor market. At the beginning of the launch of the activities of the summer training program for university students, El-Said directed the necessity of organizing workshops for students on the files and areas of the ministry's work, as well as organizing field visits for students to the New Administrative Capital and the ministry's agencies. She also urged students to participate in youth initiatives launched by the ministry to benefit from them.During the workshops, Eng. Khaled Mostafa, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and supervisor of strategic management in the Ministry, as well as the General Supervisor of Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence, reviewed the importance of strategic planning in the follow-up and evaluation process, and its role in setting clear and measurable goals for the plan.Mostafa indicated that the launch of the" Egypt Award for Gov't Excellence" comes within the framework of implementing the objectives of Egypt's Vision 2030, to spread a culture of quality and excellence at the level of the state's administrative apparatus, and to encourage competitiveness among government institutions at all levels to achieve better rates of citizen satisfaction.For her part, Dr. Sharifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, explained that the institute's vision is to become the leading center of excellence in providing consultancy, research, and training in MENA region.
Al-Sharif referred to the approach taken by NIGSD to expand training partnerships with the most prestigious regional and international institutes and institutions to provide a distinguished set of training programs.Mr. Kamal Nasr, a supervisor of the technical office of the Minister of Planning, reviewed the role of the ministry in the development planning of the state and the distribution of public investments to the administrative authorities, and the role and tasks of the entities affiliated with the ministry, as well as clarifying the organizational structure of the ministry. For his part, Mr. Tariq Abdel-Khaleq, Head of the Human Resources Sector, explained the importance of training young people and developing their skills, stressing that the person’s self-development and interest in training and learning must continue even after joining the job, bearing in mind that this training will benefit his employer.The lectures included a presentation by Dr. Heba Mugheeb, Head of the Regional Planning Sector at the Ministry, where she referred to the definition and requirements of local development, the relationship between the economic, social, and technical aspects of development, the importance of taking into account local characteristics when developing development plans, and the efforts of the Ministry of Planning to accelerate local development.Mr. Tariq Sadiq, Project Manager of the New Administrative Capital explained that the total area of the administrative capital is 170,000 acres, and the first phase of it has an area of 40,000 acres, containing multiple residential areas, the financial and business district, in addition to the government district area, which Presidency of Egypt’s Cabinet, the headquarters of 31 ministries, in addition to many agencies affiliated with the ministries.Dr. Ghada Khalil, director of the Rowad 2030 project, reviewed the importance and themes of the project and its goal, which is to spread the idea of entrepreneurship and the culture of self-employment among young people, as well as the advancement of young competencies to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic and social development by creating a scientific community capable of supporting and spreading the idea of self-employment and innovation.Mrs. Amira Hossam, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Affairs, gave a lecture in which she reviewed the Be an Ambassador for Sustainable Development initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD).
She also referred to basic definitions related to sustainable development, green economy, and green bonds, in addition to the international efforts in the field of sustainable development, starting with the Millennium Goals and then the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Umniah Al-Banna, Director of the Strategic Planning Department, presented the role of the strategic department, its institutional framework, and its main tasks.
