Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation witnesses the opening of the largest automated sorting center in the Middle East for the start-up company “Bosta,” with investments of $5 million

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat: The logistics sector in Egypt is witnessing a major leap, and expansion steps reflect the continuous growth of e-commerce

We are keen to provide all forms of support to start-ups, which have become a key pillar for growth, employment, and productivity enhancement

The continued expansion of the start-up sector reflects the growing confidence of foreign venture capital in Egyptian companies

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, witnessed the opening of the automated sorting center of “Bosta,” the largest of its kind in the Middle East, which includes the largest automated sorting machine, with investments of $5 million, sorting 11,000 shipments per hour and 250,000 shipments per day. The company aims to deliver approximately 80 million shipments during 2026.

The opening was attended by Mr. Mohamed Ezzat, Founder and CEO of the company; Ken Allen, former CEO of the global shipping company DHL; Mr. Hossam Heiba, former Chief Executive Officer of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones; and a group of entrepreneurs and representatives of the start-up community.

In her remarks, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat extended her congratulations to the officials of “Bosta” on this expansion, affirming that it reflects the continuous growth of Egypt’s logistics and e-commerce sector, and the capacity of the Egyptian market to develop and grow steadily given the large market size and population, as well as the ability of Egyptian entrepreneurs to harness technology and innovation to enhance the services provided to the market.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation emphasized the Government’s keenness to provide all incentives and facilitation for the growth of start-ups and entrepreneurs, noting the significant efforts undertaken over the past year through the Ministerial Group for Entrepreneurship, with effective and influential participation of various stakeholders in the start-up sector, resulting in a number of facilitation measures and incentives for the sector that will be announced soon.

H.E. added that today we also witness cooperation with other Egyptian start-ups to achieve this through collaboration between “Simplex,” specialized in machine manufacturing, and Bosta, reflecting integration within the start-up community and affirming the competitiveness of the Egyptian market.

H.E. also pointed to her participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos and the global discussions on the importance of technology and artificial intelligence, noting that the development of start-ups and their ability to utilize modern technology in expanding their businesses will be reflected in the growth of the sector.

H.E. continued, stating: “Entrepreneurship and innovation have become a fundamental pillar for any economy seeking to escape the middle-income trap, as highlighted in the World Bank report, where innovation and the use of modern technology represent a decisive factor in increasing growth and employment rates and enhancing productivity.”

H.E. aslo pointed to the launch of “Egypt’s Narrative for Comprehensive Development,” which sets out a roadmap for the Egyptian economy through 2030 and achieves integration among various strategies, stressing that entrepreneurship and innovation constitute a key component of the National Narrative for Comprehensive Development, and that every advancement in the start-up ecosystem is reflected in increased growth rates and enhances the competitiveness of the Egyptian market.
