Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation receives the U.S. Ambassador to Cairo to discuss advancing bilateral economic relations

Within the framework of strengthening the strategic partnership between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, received H.E. Herro Mustafa Garg, Ambassador of the United States of America to Cairo, to discuss prospects for joint economic cooperation and the future of economic and development relations between the two countries, in light of Egypt’s national priorities for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.

The meeting addressed ways to enhance cooperation in supporting economic growth, strengthening the role of the private sector, and stimulating foreign investment, in line with the Egyptian State’s targets and the National Structural Reform Program, aimed at building a more competitive and resilient economy capable of withstanding global challenges.

The two sides discussed expanding cooperation across a number of strategic sectors, including education and human-capital development to enhance workforce skills and align outputs with labor-market needs, as well as infrastructure projects that improve service efficiency and support sustainable development efforts. Discussions also covered cooperation in water-resource management and integrated water solutions, in addition to strengthening collaboration in technology, innovation, and digital transformation to support the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy.

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized that the longstanding and strategic relations between Egypt and the United States represent a cornerstone in supporting national development efforts, underscoring Egypt’s commitment to further developing frameworks for economic and investment cooperation in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation to enhance Egyptian–American economic cooperation and to build on the longstanding strategic partnership in support of sustainable development and shared interests of the two peoples.
