The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in cooperation with the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), launched on Monday training activities for a specialized group of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative launched by the Ministry in cooperation with NIGSD to qualify young people to implement the foundations of comprehensive sustainable development.

This was attended by Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Dr. Sherifa Sharif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development.

In the first week of this group, 123 trainees, including 56 women, participated in the Good Life Institutions, Misr El Kheir, Caritas-Egypt, Aswan University, and Rotary Club.

During his opening speech, Dr. Ahmed Kamali pointed out the compatibility and consistency of Egypt’s Vision 2030 in its updated version with the goals of Africa’s Agenda 2063, and there is also consistency between the vision and the goals of sustainable development of the United Nations, stressing that the updated version of the vision includes governing principles, indicators, strategic goals and enablers that help in reaching set goals.

Dr. Ahmed Kamali stressed that Egypt has succeeded in recent years on several levels, foremost of which is the economic and social level, pointing to the success of the economic and social reform program launched by the state in 2016 and achieving good rates that won the confidence of international institutions.

Kamali stressed that economic reform contributed to raising the rate of economic growth and enabled the state to restore overall stability and build a solid foundation for the economy and that the government is continuing to achieve and achieve all sustainable development goals within Egypt's Vision 2030.
Kamali pointed to the importance of localizing the sustainable development goals, noting that reports are currently being prepared on the localization of the sustainable development goals at the governorate level through the preparation of a report for each governorate.

On the importance of the digital transformation process, the Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development explained that it helps improve the governance process, especially the part related to corruption, as it focuses on separating the service provider from its requester, in addition to saving time and effort for the citizen during his access to various services.

He also pointed out that there is a relationship between the digital transformation process and the support provided by the government, pointing to the importance of having technological databases, and identifying the characteristics of all individuals and families, which helps reduce wastage in support.

For her part, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif reviewed the nature of the work of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning - which aims to apply the principles of governance to achieve Egypt's Vision 2030 and the sustainable development goals.

El-Sharif indicated that the institute aims to establish partnerships with several regional and international educational and training institutions to provide a distinguished set of programs that are offered according to the latest training methods.

She explained that among the institute's specializations, follow-up Egypt's situation with all international indicators related to governance, competitiveness, and sustainable development, and developing a national strategy and a national action plan to improve it in coordination with various state agencies.

She explained that the institute is holding awareness-raising meetings on governance and sustainable development; these are periodic, bi-monthly meetings that take place via Zoom technology for all workers in the different sectors in the state’s administrative apparatus, the public, and private sectors, and civil society.

The dialogue sessions will be presented by many effective practitioners in the field of implementing policies related to governance and sustainable development.

Dr. Hussein Abaza, International Advisor for Sustainable Development and Green Economy, pointed out the importance of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative and this type of initiative in general.
Abaza stressed that this initiative is a national one that deals with the study of sustainable development goals and their applications through training local and national competencies through local expertise as well, explaining that there is a link and integration between the Be an Ambassador initiative and other initiatives in the country.

Abaza explained that the trainees represent many categories, including professors, university students, employees, scouts, and others, stressing that when evaluating the applicants for the initiative, the dimensions of gender, geographical representation, people with special needs, and the diversity of age groups were taken into account.
