03 September 2021

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) - the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development - concluded the activities of a training program for 26 government leaders at the United Nations University in Guimarães, Portugal, on governance, digital transformation, and capacity building.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development who is acting also as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of NIGSD, indicated that the training came following international partnerships with the United Nations University in the field of governance, digital transformation, and capacity building.
“This is what the Egyptian government emphasizes, and the political leadership takes special care in light of the quest for digitization and e-government,” She added.

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of NIGSD said that the training covered several areas in the presence of respected trainers to transfer expertise to Egyptian government leaders.

“The training came in light of the fruitful cooperation with the United Nations University, which will soon include cooperation in providing advisory services and research and scientific cooperation,” She added.

This is in the context of the increasing interest of the Institute to benefit from international expertise and exclusive partnerships with international organizations, led by the United Nations, due to its expertise in these areas, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directive to expand digital transformation and governance in various governmental fields.

For his part, Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at the Institute, said that the training included effective participation of government leaders to transfer experiences in some countries such as Denmark, Portugal, and the European Union countries.

The training course includes the basics of digital transformation, training participants on e-participation, e-government evaluation, digital government strategy, change management, and security and organizational aspects of digital transformation.

It is noteworthy that the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development had launched its training program on governance and digital transformation in Portugal in cooperation with the United Nations University Operational Unit concerned with e-governance.

NIGSD also signed a framework agreement with the United Nations University for cooperation and another on training some government leaders on many important topics, including digital governance, institutional governance, smart cities and communities, and the use of information technology in combating corruption.
