Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development received recently Mr. Hou Tao, Vice President of Huawei Technologies, and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways of cooperation on the localization of technology and raising the efficiency of youth and women through the necessary training.


During the meeting, Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed fields of work starting from the development and follow-up of the investment plan through the specialized units, including the macroeconomic unit, the national accounts unit, the sustainable development unit, the labor market policies unit, and the ministry’s affiliates, led by the Institute-of-National-Planning (INP), the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMS), and the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD).


El-Said also reviewed the digital transformation projects implemented by the ministry, as well as the areas of work of the sovereign fund and its strategy in building partnerships with the private sector.


During the meeting, El-Said stressed that Egypt has a great interest in the process of digital transformation, digitizing it, and automating all services provided by the government and that this will only be achieved by owning the latest global technology and building partnerships with major companies working in the field of technology.

El-Said referred to Egypt's keenness to invest in the human element and to give young people the best opportunities for training and education in the field of technology.
For his part, Mr. Hou Tao, Vice President of Huawei International, said that the company considers Egypt a major center for its operations in North Africa, which has been translated in the form of full commitment to cooperate with the Egyptian government represented by all ministries and various government agencies to include various sectors, including participation in the development of infrastructure and areas of artificial intelligence.


Mr. Hou Tao added that Huawei is looking forward to working with the Ministry of Planning through cooperation in updating Egypt's Vision 2030 by sharing success stories and experiences, in addition to empowering women and developing their capabilities in the field of technological innovation and to be able to compete in the digital economy.


During the meeting, both sides discussed ways of cooperation between the Ministry of Planning and the international company Huawei, deepening work on the files of technology localization in various fields, and raising the efficiency of youth and women through training to help them obtain suitable opportunities for decent jobs, through the training opportunities and projects provided by Huawei in Egypt.
