Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif:

The Government of Egypt is keen to place the education file at the forefront of its priorities.
The Ministry aims to continue directing investments in the education sector to improve the quality of the educational process and enhance it in all aspects.

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, to discuss the priorities of the Economic and Social Development Plan for the fiscal year 2025/2026 concerning the Ministry of Education and Technical Education.

During the meeting, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat underscored that education represents a fundamental pillar for developing human resources and increasing cognitive awareness to keep pace with contemporary developments and the requirements of digital transformation and the transition to a knowledge economy. She stressed that education is vital for positive interaction with modern industrial and technological revolutions, maximizing the benefits derived from them, and enhancing international competitiveness in various fields.

Dr. Al-Mashat further emphasized that the state accords great importance to developing and improving the educational system by allocating resources to plan and implement projects aimed at enhancing the quality of educational services, applying modern education technologies to raise the efficiency of outputs, and paving the way for a new generation equipped with better opportunities for learning.

She noted that the 2025/2026 Economic and Social Development Plan is committed to securing the right to education for all citizens through several mechanisms, including raising enrollment rates, reducing dropout levels, narrowing the education gap between children in urban and rural areas, expanding schools across all educational stages nationwide, and upgrading technological infrastructure. The plan also includes strengthening the scientific research system by updating the legislative framework, improving governance, and developing the capacities of researchers.

The two ministers reviewed the Investment Plan for the Ministry of Education and Technical Education for 2025/2026, with total investments allocated by the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation amounting to approximately EGP 30.5 billion.

Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted “Egypt’s Narrative for Economic Development: Reforms for Growth, Jobs & Resilience,” noting that it includes a special chapter on enhancing labor market efficiency and flexibility. The Narrative emphasizes the expansion of technical schools and Applied Technology Schools in partnership with the private sector to prepare qualified personnel to meet the needs of the labor market.

She also pointed to the start of preparations for the Economic and Social Development Plan within a medium-term budget framework, beginning in fiscal year 2026/2027, underscoring that the national monitoring and evaluation system, “Adaa” (Performance), is being applied to all entities to ensure development plans are implemented effectively through measurable performance indicators.

For his part, Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif affirmed that education remains at the top of the State’s priorities, as reflected in ongoing efforts to modernize the educational process, upgrade infrastructure, and expand the number of schools across Egypt. He stressed that the Ministry seeks to continue channeling investments toward improving the quality of education in all aspects, ensuring that Egypt’s educational system keeps pace with rapid global transformations.

The two ministers also referred to the Presidential directives to raise the level of education in all respects, including the establishment of Applied Technology Schools, which represent an effective model for advancing technical education in Egypt. They further pointed to the continued rollout of Japanese schools and schools of excellence in science and technology, alongside strengthening education in fields such as mathematics, physics, engineering, programming, and artificial intelligence.
