The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, signed a cooperation agreement with Aswan University in the areas of governance, administrative development, support for building and developing human capacities, research studies, and scientific events.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and Prof. Dr. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, Acting President of Aswan University.

After signing the agreement, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif expressed her happiness for the cooperation between the Institute and Aswan University as an advanced and integrated scientific edifice that seeks to spread knowledge and build the human element for the advancement of Egyptian society.

El-Sherif explained that NIGSD always seeks to establish partnerships with scientific institutions, private sector companies, and public sector institutions, but cooperation with academic bodies comes to the fore because of their profound impact on the personality of contemporary man.

Sherif added that the role played by the institute depends on training, qualifying, and raising the knowledge and skills of the Egyptian state’s cadres in all fields to achieve sustainable development following Egypt’s 2030 vision.
El-Sherif indicated that this cooperation represents a pillar of joint support for holding scientific training and events and conducting joint research to develop human capabilities in general and the capabilities of workers in national institutions in particular.

She pointed out that the importance of this cooperation is crystallized in the joint endeavor to build a rational administrative governance system for the university, which can be applied in all universities of the Republic in the long term in support of achieving Egypt’s Vision 2030 by building aware national cadres.

For his part, Dr. Ayman Mahmoud Othman, President of Aswan University, pointed out that this protocol comes within the framework of Egypt's Vision 2030 and what it represents as an essential station in the comprehensive development process in Egypt and reforms in various fields.

The protocol stresses the importance of forming partnerships with relevant local and international institutions. It also seeks to consolidate sustainable development goals and principles of governance through the research and education system, based on the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Strategy, to build an Egyptian scientific society that achieves global leadership in science and technology.

Dr. Ayman Mahmoud Othman explained that the agreement aims to strengthen the frameworks of cooperation between the university and NIGSD in the areas of development and administrative restructuring, in addition to the field of human capacity development, scientific research, advisory services, and other fields.Othman pointed to the most important areas of cooperation following the agreement, which are the implementation of a package of professional training programs for university students and employees of the university’s administrative apparatus.

The agreement also includes setting frameworks and policies for an administrative governance system for the university and ways to effectively implement them to contribute to achieving Egypt's Vision 2030, in addition to coordinating the development of an action plan to restructure and automate administrative processes for all university services.

Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at NIGSD, referred to the most important activities proposed for the implementation of the cooperation agreement, represented in the exchange of delegations' visits between the two parties to inform each party about the experiences and expertise of the other party in the field of training.
This is in addition to exchanging trainers, experts, researchers, information, publications, training materials, scientific publications, and electronic software.
