Egypt’s Ministry of Planning reviews the database of economic indicators in preparation for its launch

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development held a conference headed by Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning, to review the database of economic indicators as part of the internal platform for mechanization and digital transformation of the ministry in preparation for its launch.
The conference took place in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning, Dr. Fathi Saqr, Advisor to the Minister of Planning, Eng. Khaled Mustafa, Permanent Undersecretary, Mr. Mohamed Farid, Assistant The Minister of National Projects, Engineer Ashraf Abdel Hafeez, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister for Follow-up Affairs of the Sustainable Development Plan, and a large number of advisors and heads of sectors and units in the Ministry.
The platform team, led by Dr. Ahmed Kamali explained the nature of the platform and how it works.
Haitham Atef, Director of Information Technology Infrastructure Development, said that the platform aims to facilitate the sharing and availability of data by all researchers in the ministry.
Monica George, a member of the Technical Office of the Deputy Minister of Planning, said that the platform includes several different databases, which include: prices, the labor market, national accounts, poverty indicators, the external sector, the financial and monetary sector, the government finance sector, industry indicators, and population indicators.
“Each database includes a large number of sub-indicators with a total of more than 500 sub-indicators, the platform provides an advanced search feature that allows combining a large number of indicators quickly, while filtering the data according to the required years,” She added.
Egypt’s Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said praised the efforts of the platform’s team, stressing the importance of the Ministry of Planning having all the available data.
El-Said stressed the importance of having a database of indicators of sustainable development and Egypt's Vision 2030 on the platform, in addition to establishing a database of economic indicators at the governorate level in the context of the move towards the settlement process with linking to the performance system.
El-Said called on researchers in the ministry to access the platform as soon as it was launched to try working on it and to send the necessary proposals via e-mail.
She further explained that the platform will represent a research reference characterized by ease and order in presenting data, with the possibility of making some indicators available to researchers outside the ministry.
