In celebration of International Youth Day: Egypt’s Ministry of Planning concludes the workshops of 1st session of the summer training program for university students

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development concluded recently the workshops of the first session of the summer training program for university students in 2021, coinciding with the celebration of the International Youth Day.
The final workshop included a review of the "Pioneers 2030" (Rowad 2030) project, its vision, and goal for its formulation, as well as the initiatives and partnerships it has undertaken since its establishment.Commenting on the content of the final workshop, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the Ministry of Planning is entrusted with developing and supporting the entrepreneurship and innovation sector.
She added that Egypt’s planning ministry works to increase its contribution to comprehensive and sustainable economic development.El-Said explained that projects based on knowledge and innovation represent the main support for economic growth, due to their role in supporting productivity, increasing added value, and contributing to creating job opportunities.Dr. Ghada Khalil said that the goal of the project is to spread the idea of entrepreneurship and the culture of self-employment among young people, as well as the advancement of young competencies to achieve comprehensive and sustainable economic and social development by creating a scientific community capable of supporting and spreading the idea of self-employment.
Regarding the pillars of the Rowad 2030 project, Khalil explained that the project is based on three main pillars: supporting capacity-building and skills development in the field of entrepreneurship, expanding the establishment and development of business incubators, and increasing educational and community awareness of the importance of implementing the entrepreneurship and innovation system.
Khalil also highlighted the achievements of the Rowad 2030 project in each of the three pillars, noting the provision of a Master of Entrepreneurship grant in cooperation with the University of Cambridge, and a grant for mastering business skills for entrepreneurs, as well as the provision of a specialized certificate in entrepreneurship.
The Rowad 2030 project initiated nine entrepreneurship incubators, as well as new incubators, are being completed, so that the total number of incubators will be 20 by 2022.
The achievements of the Rowad 2030 project also included the launch of the project for some campaigns, referring to the (Start Your Future) campaign, which was implemented in universities for about 20,000 male and female students in 20 Egyptian universities.
Khalil continued talking about the campaigns launched by the project within the framework of the third pillar, which is concerned with increasing educational and societal awareness of the importance of implementing the entrepreneurship and innovation system.
Khalil referred to the Adam series, Rowad Studio, and Entrepreneur Capsules, as well as the “Be an Entrepreneur” campaign, Rowad magazine and application, and the launch of a training program to raise the efficiency of incubator managers in Egypt.
Khalil explained that the observance of sustainable development goals and the quality of education prompted the Rowad 2030 project to choose the best universities and scientific institutions to partner with them.
Khalil added that a series of discussion sessions were presented on entrepreneurship and economic development through the Zoom application and social media for the Rowad 2030 project, with the participation of several ministers and officials.
Khalil stressed that the "One Million Entrepreneurs" campaign represents the largest platform of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa, and deals with the presentation of the training program in Arabic, English, and sign language.
The "One Million Entrepreneurs" campaign aims to introduce the idea of entrepreneurship to one million Egyptian youth.Regarding the achievements of the Rowad 2030 project in numbers, Khalil explained that the project was able to implement 29 initiatives, provide more than 1.4 million job opportunities, establish 9 business incubators, provide 614 incubation opportunities, including projects that are still in the incubation period, participate in 70 events, and make 31 partnerships with other parties.
