Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation Discusses with the Ambassador of Armenia Enhancing Bilateral Relations and Preparations for the Joint Committee Meeting

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and International Cooperation, met with Mr. Armen Sargsyan, the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Arab Republic of Egypt, as part of the Ministry's efforts to strengthen relations with multilateral and bilateral development partners.

During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat welcomed the Ambassador of Armenia to Egypt, and emphasized the commitment of the Arab Republic of Egypt to strengthening fruitful bilateral relations with the Republic of Armenia at all political, economic, and cultural levels. H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat explained that these strategic relations between the two countries contribute to achieving common interests that support stability and growth in both Egypt and Armenia.

H.E. Minister Al-Mashat highlighted the visit of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Armenia in 2023, which represented an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, and contributed to opening new horizons for cooperation between Egypt and Armenia in various fields, in addition to strengthening bilateral cooperation frameworks. The visit included the signing of agreements covering a number of economic, commercial, and cultural aspects, which contribute to building a strong and sustainable relationship between the two countries.

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat touched on the intensive joint efforts to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and Armenia in a way that achieves mutual benefits for both countries. H.E. added that the volume of trade is still less than expected, indicating that there is great potential to enhance trade exchange between the two countries, particularly in areas such as agricultural products and light industries.

H.E. Minister Al-Mashat stressed Egypt's keenness to strengthen and deepen bilateral relations with Armenia in the future. H.E. pointed to the importance of intensifying cooperation in various economic, commercial, scientific, and cultural fields. 

H.E. Dr. Al-Mashat affirmed Egypt's keenness to provide an attractive investment environment for Armenian investors, while providing incentives and opportunities in various economic sectors. H.E. highlighted Egypt's willingness to work with Armenia to expand the scope of bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries.

H.E. Minister Al-Mashat reiterated Egypt's readiness to host the 6th session of the Egyptian-Armenian Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Cairo in 2025, which will witness the signing of a number of agreements that contribute to strengthening relations between the Egyptian and Armenian sides.
