The Egyptian Family Development Project aims to improve the demographic characteristics: Says Hala El-Said
In preparation for the launch of the national project for the development of the Egyptian family, Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, held a series of meetings to review the project's implementation plan.
Dr. Hala El-Said received a report from Dr. Amira Tawadros, Director of the Demographic Center and Coordinator of the Family Development Project, on the executive steps of the project’s pillars in cooperation with the ministries and bodies participating in the Family Development Project, the latest of which is the study of establishing a population observatory in cooperation with international experts in this field.


Dr. Hala El-Said explained that the state seeks to address the population issue from a comprehensive development perspective, and aims to achieve a balance between resources and the requirements of population growth.

El-Said added that the government's plan to deal with the population issue is based on integrating the efforts of all parties working to manage this issue through the implementation of a strategic plan with integrated dimensions and axes for the development of the Egyptian family.

El-Said explained that the main objective of that plan is to manage the population issue from a comprehensive perspective to improve the quality of life of the citizen and ensure the sustainability of the development process, by working to control population growth on the one hand, and improving population characteristics on the other hand, so that the Egyptian manpower becomes an effective human force that obtains well educated, healthy, and a better quality of life.


El-Said asserted that the Ministry of Planning has a huge and detailed database on Egyptian families and their numbers in each village, as well as the instantaneous system to know the number of births and deaths in each family.


El-Said stressed that the plan will be implemented in several stages, and is characterized by several pillars, the first of which is the economic empowerment of women, which is represented in the training of two million women, and the establishment of small and micro projects for about one million women, where the National Council for Women (NCW), the Ministry of Solidarity and the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority (MSEA) in these projects.


El-Said added that the second pillar of the plan will include organizing home visits by the Ministry of Health to meet the needs of women for family planning methods, as well as providing training for rural pioneers, and pushing more female doctors to provide the means of organizing.


El-Said noted that the third pillar of the steps will be awareness programs for young people who are about to get married through the Ministries of Education and Higher Education.


El-Said pointed out that Egyptian women are currently going through their most brilliant eras, as the Egyptian state places the file of supporting and empowering women at the top of its priorities, with the support of the political leadership.


Moreover, she said that the state plans to achieve gender equality and ensure equal opportunities, stressing that women enjoy unprecedented economic, social, and political empowerment.
