Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Meets with French Ambassador to Discuss the Future of Bilateral Economic Relations

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Eric Chevalier, French Ambassador to Cairo, to discuss the future of Egyptian-French economic relations, in light of the recent agreements signed to finance a number of development projects, and the priorities of the partnership in the upcoming period.
During the meeting,H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat emphasized the depth and importance of Egyptian-French relations and the development they have witnessed during the past period, reflecting on the implementation of numerous developmental projects in priority sectors through developmental cooperation with both the French government and the French Development Agency, which has played a pivotal role in enhancing economic growth and development across various sectors.
H.E. praised the efforts exerted in collaboration with technical teams from both sides in the recent period, which resulted in the completion of several agreements, including the financing of the the Rubiki railway project, and projects in the sanitation, electricity and energy sectors.
H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat reviewed the state's efforts to govern and increase the efficiency of investment spending within the framework of the government's program to ensure macroeconomic stability and increase private sector investments, explaining that the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation is working to drive sustainable economic growth by relying on evidence-based policies and data to identify and bridge development gaps in sectors, enhance macroeconomic stability, implement structural reforms to increase competitiveness, improve the business environment, support the resilience of macro-fiscal policies, and transition towards a green economy.
H.E. pointed out that the Egyptian-French partnership has witnessed a strong boost since 2019, reflecting the strength of the joint relations between the two countries and the keenness to implement partnerships that elevate development efforts, as a memorandum of understanding was signed for a strategic partnership in socio-economic development between Egypt and the French Development Agency during the period 2019-2023, including the most important pillars of cooperation according to Egypt's Vision 2030. Additionally, eight memorandums of understanding were signed in various fields of development during President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Egypt in 2019, followed by the signing of bilateral agreements during H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to Paris in 2020.
