ECOSOC selects NIGSD Executive Director as an expert at UN (CEPA)

United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) announced recently the selection of Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), among 24 experts in The United Nations Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) for a four-year term.
Dr. Hala El-Said said that the selection of Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif is an achievement and an honorable representation of Egypt in the United Nations institutions.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif expressed her thanks and gratitude for this appreciation, pledging to continue working for the service of the country.
Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and a Master's degree in Public Administration from the American University in Cairo (AUC), in addition to a Ph.D. from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
She also works as a Professor of Public Administration at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
During the period from 2015 to 2018, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif held the position of Head of the Public Administration Research and Consultation Center at the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University.
She has been working for more than 20 years in the areas of public administration, corporate social responsibility, sustainable development, social entrepreneurship, environmental management, and governance.
El-Sherif has published many research and articles in national and international journals in her fields of specialization.
Many of her publications won the Best Paper Award.
Moreover, El-Sherif has worked with many international organizations as a principal researcher and consultant on projects related to gender equality, women's empowerment, good governance, administrative reform, sustainable development, and environmental management.
In 2017, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif was appointed as a member of the Egyptian National Committee of The African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), as well as the Egyptian National Coordinator for the Public Governance Committee of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The Committee of Experts on Public Administration at the United Nations Economic and Social Council includes international figures and expertise in the field of public administration representing some countries around the world.
