Dr. Al-Mashat Meets Swiss Minister of Economic Affairs Following the Signing of the Joint Committee Agreement

H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of
Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, held a bilateral
meeting with Ms. Helene Budliger, Swiss Director of the State Secretariat for
Economic Affairs, following the signing of the Egyptian-Swiss Joint Committee
Agreement. The signing of the agreement was witnessed by Prime Minister H.E.
Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Swiss Vice President Mr. Guy Parmelin.
During the meeting, the two ministers
discussed the future steps for activating the Joint Economic Committee, which
is significant for elevating economic, commercial, and investment relations
between the two countries.
They emphasized its significant role in
enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations between the two countries
and expanding cooperation to include additional priority areas.
H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat expressed
appreciation for the Swiss side for their continuous coordination in finalizing
the committee agreement.
H.E. Minister Al-Mashat noted that the
agreement represents the culmination of decades of efforts between the two
countries, during which cooperation was coordinated in the area of development
and financing for numerous development projects financed by Switzerland in
Egypt, which have contributed to enhancing development efforts.
H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat affirmed that the
Joint Committee between Egypt and Switzerland reflects the pivotal role of economic
diplomacy in advancing mutual relations and development financing.
H.E. Minister Al-Mashat highlighted Egypt's
keenness to strengthen ties with various friendly and brotherly countries
through the mechanism of joint committees, which solidify cooperation between
both the public and private sectors.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian-Swiss
Joint Economic Committee aims to promote trade exchange, facilitate investments
by companies in both countries, explore new opportunities to access markets,
and address challenges to drive bilateral economic relations.
In addition it evaluates and updates existing
economic agreements, and improves their implementation in line with the needs
and interests of both parties.
The committee also focuses on identifying key
economic areas for both sides, facilitating the exchange of expertise and best
practices among specialists in various economic fields, and addressing both
general and specific trade issues raised by private sector representatives in
both countries.
Furthermore, it aims to promote cooperation in
international economic issues of mutual interest.
