NIGSD, NCSD sign MoU to raise Students' awareness of SDGs

Egypt’s National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) signed recently a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Commission for sustainable development (NCSD) to establish units in the areas of sustainable development and governance within universities.These units will be responsible on enhancing awareness of the concepts, goals and vision of sustainable development and scientific research.
NIGSD Executive Director, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif said that the signed MoU comes within the framework of Egypt's Vision 2030, adding that it represents an essential station in Egypt's comprehensive development process and reforms in various fields.El-Sherif also stressed the importance of forming partnerships with relevant local and international institutions.She noted that the signed MoU with the National Committee for Sustainable Development and Governance seeks to consolidate sustainable development goals and principles of governance through the research and education system, based on the National Science and Technology Strategy and innovation.El-Sherif explained that the joint activities also include participating in research projects to achieve sustainable development goals as well as working on institutional development and administrative reform systems within the framework of the principles of good governance in educational institutions.For his part, Mr. Nabil Fouad, Director General of Business Development and Human Resources at the NIGSD indicated that the institute is adopting a new approach to development and service provision, to become a regional knowledge center.
He added that NIGSD aims to play an effective role in implementing national strategies, foremost of which is the sustainable development strategy; Egypt Vision 2030.
