Egypt’s Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, inaugurated on Sunday the memorial ceremony for late Prime Minister Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzouri, which was held by the ministry at the headquarters of the Institute-of-National-Planning (INP), the research arm of the ministry.
At the beginning of her speech, Dr. Hala El-Said said that the memorial ceremony is a tribute to a busy procession of public work, and all the tolerant national and human values established by late Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzouri, during a decades-long journey of service to the nation.
El-Said added that the year 2021 marks the completion of six decades of development planning experience in Egypt, which began in 1960, with or a few years before the practical journey of Dr. El-Ganzouri began.
El-Said added that during those decades, the efforts of the Egyptian state continued in construction and development in which Dr. El-Ganzouri participated with sincerity and dedication and from different positions.
El-Said added that this included years of hard work in the service of regional development in some of Egypt’s governorates and the presidency of one of the most prestigious specialized scientific and research institutions in Egypt and the Arab world.
“Late Dr. El-Ganzouri chaired INP Institute-of-National-Planning which is a house of expertise. It contributed to the graduation of cadres, enriching efforts and supporting them to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development in Egypt,” El-Said explained.
El-Said added that during the aforementioned six decades, Dr. El-Ganzouri was preoccupied with serving his country and its issues, an active participant and a close witness to the Egyptian development experience in all its stages, with its fruits and challenges.
“He took responsibility, and even in the few periods when he chose to take a break, he did not skimp on his good advice,” She said.
After her speech, El-Said announced the launch of the Professional Master’s class for the year 2021 by the name of late Dr. Kamal Al-Ganzouri, with three scholarships for the Professional Master’s being allocated as an award to his name.
