Head of Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning: Egypt will continue to provide many successful initiatives similar to “Haya Karima”

Main / Media / News / Head of Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning: Egypt will continue to provide many successful initiatives similar to “Haya Karima”

07 July 2021

Dr. Mona Essam, Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, said recently that the initiatives that were listed on the United Nations platforms in 2018, and the approved specifications, were studied to take into account the selection criteria that came in line with the four Egyptian initiatives listed this year on the “SDG Good Practices” platform.

This came during a press conference held by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in the presence of Dr. Hala El-Said to announce the details of the ministry’s success in including four additional Egyptian initiatives on the “SDG Good Practices” platform.

The listed projects were the Decent Life (Hayah Karima) presidential initiative, the Rowad 2030 project, the local development program in Upper Egypt, and the integrated system for preparing and following up the investment plan.

Essam added that the four Egyptian initiatives meet the criteria required from the United Nations platforms, in addition to their achievement of the UN sustainable development goals.

Dr. Mona Essam said that the initiatives have tangible results that are measurable and touch the lives of the neediest groups, and have specific monitoring systems, which emphasizes the elements of sustainability and follow-up.

Dr. Mona Essam also explained that the number of global initiatives that were listed this year on the United Nations platforms amounted to 464 initiatives, compared to 509 initiatives in 2018.

Essam noted that Egypt presented four initiatives this year and all of them were accepted, which is considered a success for the Egyptian state.

She stressed that the Egyptian state will continue to present some successful initiatives in the coming years.
