 Bilateral meeting on boosting economic cooperation and enhancing development performance to keep pace with global changes.


H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new horizons between the two countries. The discussions covered economic policies aimed at stimulating the private sector and increasing productivity, in addition to deepening cooperation in formulating and implementing economic programs that keep pace with global changes and enhance development performance and performance tracking mechanisms.

 

The two sides discussed proposals for joint cooperation to improve the effectiveness of planning systems, enhance economic competitiveness, benefit from best practices that drive economic development efforts, create more job opportunities, and maximize the impact of government investments while fostering evidence-based policymaking.

 

Al-Mashat highlighted the ministry’s efforts in improving the governance of public investment spending and enhancing the efficiency of government investments to maximize their benefits, support development efforts, and create more opportunities for the private sector to increase its investments.

 

They also explored future cooperation and the opening of new avenues in line with the priorities of the Egyptian government and in light of global and regional developments. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the depth of historical relations between Egypt and the UAE and the cooperation that connects the two countries across numerous projects.

 

Dr. Al-Mashat underscored the special relationship between Egypt and the UAE, highlighting the distinguished path of cooperation between the two countries and the shared history and culture that unite their people. H.E. affirmed the Egyptian government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with the UAE, which is reflected in the reciprocal visits between the leadership of the two countries and the profound and historic nature of their relationship.

 

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation also pointed to the active role of development cooperation between Egypt and the UAE, which has resulted in a joint cooperation portfolio through which several projects have been implemented in areas such as food security, infrastructure, energy, and other sectors.

 

For his part, H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri congratulated H.E. Dr. Rania A. Al-Mashat on her appointment as Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, wishing her success. He also reiterated the UAE Ministry of Economy’s readiness to cooperate and provide all forms of support to strengthen joint efforts and elevate the partnership to new heights in line with both countries’ development priorities.
