The National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, in collaboration with Fayoum Governorate, held the first awareness seminar in the governorates to discuss the objectives, categories, and evaluation criteria of projects participating in its third edition. Applications are currently open on the website www.sgg.eg. The seminar featured Nermin Sadeq, Executive Director of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development; Ahmed Abdel Aziz, Coordinator of the Initiative's Projects in Governorates at the Ministry of Planning; Mohamed Rabie, Representative of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology; Eng. Hossam Shaban, Representative of the Ministry of Environment; Mohamed Talaat, Representative of the National Council for Women; Dr. Marwa Ahmed Mohamed, Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects in Fayoum; and Wissam Farhat, Chairman of the Project Evaluation Committee in Fayoum.


During the workshop, Nermin Sadeq provided an overview of the evaluation criteria and mechanisms for projects participating in the third edition of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects. She highlighted the target categories, which include six groups, and outlined the participation conditions and mechanisms, as well as the project specializations and evaluation criteria, which encompass the green component, smart technological component, economic feasibility and financial viability, scalability and replicability, sustainable impact, and a special criterion for women’s projects.


Mohamed Rabie, representing the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, explained the concept of smart projects and highlighted key smart green project areas. He provided examples of technological components, smart projects utilizing artificial intelligence, and smart projects using Internet of Things (IoT) technology.


Eng. Hossam Shaban, from the Ministry of Environment, clarified the nature and objectives of green projects, including the economic and social dimensions of green projects, and the criteria for evaluating green projects. These criteria include the efficient use of natural resources, the use of clean energy and energy efficiency, the proportion of green production inputs, and biodiversity conservation measures during production stages.


Mohamed Talaat, representing the National Council for Women, presented on the women’s projects category. He discussed the target group, the evaluation criteria for these projects, which include women’s representation and leadership roles in the project, consideration of women’s needs and interests within the community, and the project's impact on women’s lives, opportunities, access to education, and healthcare.
