NIGSD Executive Director Promotes Integrated Governance in Egyptian Healthcare

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), emphasized that the forum sessions resulted in several key pillars and messages, the most important being the emphasis on integration among all government agencies to provide better services to the Egyptian citizen.
This came during her participation in the closing session of the First Governance Forum in the Health Sector, held in cooperation between the Ministry of Health, the Governance Institute, the Medical Affairs Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and the Thunderbird School of Global Management in the United States. The forum was inaugurated by Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, in the presence of leaders from both ministries, several members of Parliament, academics, experts in the health field, and civil society representatives. The closing session was attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Tayeb, Assistant Minister of Health for Governance and Technical Affairs, Dr. Hossam El-Masry, Medical Advisor to the Prime Minister, and Dr. Mohamed El-Suheimi, Senior Executive Director of Business Development at the Thunderbird School of Global Management.
Dr. Sherifa Sherif pointed out the launch of a training program in the United States in collaboration with the Thunderbird School of Global Management. This program is part of a tripartite cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of Health and Population, the Institute, and the Higher Medical Committee and Emergency Services of the Council of Ministers. The training will cover the fundamentals of healthcare systems and governance, mechanisms for eliminating waste, improving quality outcomes, enhancing patient safety, and value-based care, while promoting innovation and technology in healthcare. The aim is to anticipate future trends in healthcare governance, with the first phase of the program set to take place in the United States in the coming days.
