Main / Media / News / Ministry of Planning Allocates EGP 4.9 Billion for 311 Development Projects in Monufia for 2023/2024

11 June 2024

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development reviewed in a report the features of the citizen's investment plan for Monufia Governorate for the year 2023/2024. This comes as part of the ongoing announcement of the citizen's plan in all governorates of the country for the fifth consecutive year. The aim is to raise awareness among citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 2023/2024 and its role in achieving "Egypt Vision 2030."

H.E.Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, emphasized that launching the "Citizen's Plan" reflects the state's strong commitment to involving citizens in the efforts to develop planning and monitoring systems. The goal is to achieve sustainable and comprehensive development, address developmental gaps between different governorates, localize the sustainable development goals, and fulfill the 17th global sustainable development goal, "Partnerships for the Goals." She stressed that the citizen is the true focus of development, hence the need to empower and provide them with information about the development programs and projects being implemented by the state. She added that all developmental plans adopted by the state aim to improve the quality of life for citizens, and this will not be achieved without active community participation, in alignment with "Egypt Vision 2030."

Regarding the citizen's investment plan for Monufia Governorate, El-Said explained that the number of development projects in the governorate reaches 311, with the value of public investments directed to Monufia Governorate in the 2023/2024 plan amounting to EGP 4.9 billion. This is in addition to projects directed through the Egyptian Rural Development Project "Decent Life."

Concerning the sectoral distribution of public investments targeted for Monufia Governorate in the 2023/2024 plan, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development report indicated that EGP 1.4 billion is directed to the higher education sector, representing 29%, followed by the housing sector with EGP 1.3 billion, representing 27%. The local development sector receives EGP 693 million, representing 14%, followed by pre-university education with EGP 440 million, representing 9%. The transport sector receives EGP 200 million, representing 4%, and other sectors in the governorate receive investments amounting to EGP 867 million, representing 17%.

The report explained that the number of villages targeted in the first phase of the "Decent Life" initiative in Monufia Governorate is 81 villages, with 1.2 million residents benefiting. The initiative's projects, which achieve all the sustainable development goals, include constructing 37 residential buildings for low-income families, 6 social units, 20 agricultural service complexes, 14 ambulance points, 871 classrooms, 122 schools, 10 family development centers, 70 drinking water stations, 81 sewage projects, 10 treatment plants, 113 mobile network towers to connect the fiber-optic network, 64 youth centers, 20 government service complexes, 45 post offices, 15 police points, 11 fire points, along with implementing 81 projects to rehabilitate and line canals covering 309 km, and 93 road paving projects covering 123 km of main and internal roads.
