Egypt Government Excellence Award Visits South Sinai for Internal Awards Follow-Up

The Egypt Government Excellence Award convened the judging committee for the internal excellence awards in South Sinai Province for its inaugural edition. Chaired by Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, the meeting saw the presence of Dr. Enas Samir, Deputy Governor of South Sinai; Soha Said, Executive Director of the Award; Dr. Abdel Hakim Radwan, Evaluation and Quality Consultant; Dr. Ahmed Sadek, Director of Evaluation and Quality; and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Salam, Director of Institutional Awards for Educational Institutions.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Hisham Badr commended the notable progress witnessed by South Sinai Province in recent years, particularly in the implementation of various developmental projects across sectors and fields. He also lauded the province's successful hosting of several international events, including the "Climate Summit." Ambassador Badr reaffirmed the Ministry of Planning's continuous support and monitoring of the province's efforts to execute its diverse development projects, which aim to enhance citizens' quality of life and bolster Egypt's leadership and competitiveness. These objectives align with the core mission of the Egypt Government Excellence Award, which focuses on fostering a culture of excellence and competitiveness.
Ambassador Badr also extended congratulations on the inauguration of the new Sharm El Sheikh City Council building, which features innovative design elements utilizing cutting-edge technological and digital techniques to create an interactive and integrated facility, thereby improving government services for citizens, investors, and businesses.
Dr. Enas Samir, Deputy Governor of South Sinai, commended the ongoing support provided by the Award Management Team to the province's internal excellence team during the execution of the internal award stages. This support has contributed to enhancing institutional and individual performance levels. Dr. Samir reiterated the province's commitment to actively participate in future cycles of the award across its various categories.
Soha Said, Executive Director of the Award, highlighted the expansion of the Award Management's efforts to implement the internal excellence awards system in government entities, including local units in several governorates in its second edition. The aim is to deepen the culture of institutional excellence and achieve a qualitative improvement in institutional performance, preparing entities to compete in the national award "Egypt Government Excellence Award" in its fourth edition in 2024. Said emphasized the significance of the province establishing an excellence unit to sustain excellence within the province and invest in distinguished residents who have contributed to the success of the province's internal excellence system.
During the judging process, Dr. Abdel Hakim Radwan, Evaluation and Quality Consultant, outlined the mechanisms employed to launch the internal award in the province. This included extensive training sessions for excellence ambassadors and residents, totaling 840 working hours, and the subsequent nomination process. Dr. Radwan highlighted the utilization of an electronic system to manage the evaluation process for 15 days, totaling 2350 working hours. He also presented updates and developments, including the revision of the localities category guide and the development of performance indicators and assessment criteria.
Ambassador Hisham Badr and Dr. Enas Samir conducted an inspection tour of key projects within the City Council building, including the "Egypt Services Center," aimed at streamlining citizen services, and the "Citizens Technology Center" and "National Emergency and Public Safety Network."
In conjunction with the visit, the Egypt Government Excellence Award hosted an awareness seminar attended by city presidents, representatives of local units, and technological centers in the province. Soha Said, Executive Director of the Egypt Government Excellence Award, outlined the award categories and explained the stages of implementation, emphasizing the government excellence system's axes and criteria, as well as the evaluation criteria for institutional and individual awards.
