Planning Minister Outlines Egypt's 2024/2025 Development Goals: Housing, Water, Sanitation

During the discussion of the Economic and Social Development Plan for the fiscal year 2024/2025 at a meeting of the Senate's Committee on Financial, Economic, and Investment Affairs:
H.E.Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, reviewed the targets for the housing, drinking water, and sanitation sectors in the fiscal year 2024/2025 plan. This occurred during the discussion of the Economic and Social Development Plan for the fiscal year 24/2025 at a meeting of the Senate's Committee on Financial, Economic, and Investment Affairs, chaired by Dr. Hani Ser El-Din, and in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and with the participation of the honorable members of the Council.
Regarding the targets for the drinking water and sanitation sector, El Said clarified that the targeted number of drinking water stations to be established and developed is 471 stations, with a targeted length of drinking water networks to be established and developed reaching 1417 km. Additionally, 248 sewage treatment plants are targeted for establishment and development, as well as 101 pumping stations to be established and developed during the plan year, in addition to establishing and developing 3027 km of sewage networks.
El Said added that it is targeted to complete 13 drinking water stations, in addition to completing 58 sewage projects.
As for the housing sector, El Said indicated that the plan aims to expand the availability of housing units, with the number of housing units reaching 337.2 thousand, including 37.4 thousand housing units in the "Housing for All Egyptians" project, 271.5 thousand social housing units, in addition to 7.5 thousand distinguished housing units "Ganna", and 20.8 thousand housing units in "Dar Misr" neighborhoods.
