Main / Media / News / Planning Minister Outlines 2024/2025 Economic Plan: 3 Million Transactions Processed Digitally

21 May 2024

H.E.Dr. Hala El Said, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, elaborated on the state’s directions towards enhancing the digital and knowledge economy in the fiscal year 2024/2025. This occurred during her discussion of the draft law for the economic and social development plan for the fiscal year 24/2025 at a meeting of the Senate’s Committee on Financial and Economic Affairs and Investment. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hani Sir El-Din, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Kamali, Deputy Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and with the participation of other council members.

Dr. Hala El Said explained that the shift towards digitization and digital transformation is intertwined with various sectors of the state, benefiting all sectors rather than being confined to a specific entity. She pointed out that the fiscal year 2024/2025 plan aims to digitally transform and improve the quality of services provided to citizens, encompassing all sectors. Among the notable initiatives are the digitization of the passport information system and the issuance of electronic visas, establishment of a database for the National Council for Persons with Disabilities, technological empowerment of local centers, neighborhoods, and new cities, as well as the digitization of procedures for customs inspection and release.

Regarding the support for the state’s digital transformation, Dr. Hala El Said highlighted the continued implementation of projects to develop local services, including the enhancement of 360 technological centers across provinces, neighborhoods, cities, and villages, offering a total of 375 services. Additionally, there are 326 mobile technology centers, handling nearly 3 million transactions. Other efforts include establishing an electronic voting system in collaboration with the Administrative Prosecution Authority, developing the information infrastructure of the Egyptian state, and expanding the establishment of “Egypt Service Centers” to cover all governorates of the republic. She also mentioned the importance of basic maps and satellite images in facilitating planning operations.
