Main / Media / News / NIGSD Launches Digital Governance Training in Portugal

15 May 2024

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in collaboration with the United Nations University, has launched a new specialized batch of the training program "Digital Governance in Public Administration" under the title "E-Governance for Egyptian Legislative Bodies." This program is attended by 25 trainees from 8 entities within the state's administrative apparatus in the city of Guimarães, Portugal.

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, stated that the program is being implemented within the framework of a joint cooperation protocol signed between the institute and the United Nations University in Portugal. She noted that the program includes several topics related to the theoretical framework, applications of institutional governance, and the transition to electronic governance in the field of legislation drafting and preparation.

Sherif explained that the implementation of the program continues the approach adopted by the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development in executing distinguished international training programs. These programs are conducted in cooperation with prestigious international universities and institutes, relying on the latest training and educational methodologies to enhance performance levels and reduce various avenues of corruption.

The training program covers topics such as providing theoretical and practical foundations related to e-governance, addressing anticipated key challenges, and clarifying how to endorse public policies related to digitization through the national digital governance strategy. Additionally, it includes training on raising awareness of the considerations necessary for implementing electronic transformation in institutions, as well as presenting case studies that highlight best practices in change management and how to apply them in the electronic transformation process.
