Luxor Governorate Unveils 2023/2024 Citizen Investment Plan: 7.7 Billion EGP for 201 Development Projects

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development has announced the Citizen Investment Plan for Luxor Governorate for the fiscal year 2023/2024. This announcement marks the fifth consecutive year of unveiling such plans across all governorates of the republic, with the aim of informing citizens about the directions and priorities of the sustainable development plan for the fiscal year 2023/2024 and its role in achieving "Egypt Vision 2030."
H.E. Dr. Hala El Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, emphasized the plan's special attention to Upper Egypt regions. This includes applying a financing equation to direct investments based on developmental gap indicators and focusing on making breakthroughs in specific provinces to maximize their resources, wealth, and developmental potential. El Said explained that launching the "Citizen Plan" reflects the state's commitment to involving citizens in efforts to develop planning and monitoring systems, thus achieving sustainable and comprehensive development and addressing developmental gaps between different provinces, aligning with "Egypt Vision 2030."
El Said highlighted that Luxor Governorate will see 201 developmental projects, with public investments totaling 7.7 billion EGP in the 2023/2024 plan, representing a 148% increase from the 2022/2023 plan.
Regarding the sectoral distribution of targeted public investments, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development's report indicates that 4.8 billion EGP will be directed to the transportation sector (62%), followed by the local development sector with 808.7 million EGP (11%). Health sector investments amount to 574.9 million EGP (7%), housing sector with 522.9 million EGP (7%), and higher education sector with 416 million EGP (5%). Other sectors will receive investments worth 5 billion EGP (8%), in addition to projects under the Egyptian Rural Development Project "Decent Life."
The report clarifies that the first phase of the "Decent Life" initiative in Luxor Governorate targets 36 villages, benefiting 484 thousand people, with females accounting for 48%. The initiative aims to achieve all sustainable development goals through various projects, including infrastructure development, education, health services, and community centers.
The plan also aims to implement 71 developmental projects in the field of local development services in Luxor Governorate, with main targets including directing about 914 million EGP to support electricity networks and allocating 223 million EGP for road paving.
