Executive Director of Egypt’s National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Sherif El-Sherif participated in the youth conference of the MENA and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The conference was held virtually via the ZOOM feature, entitled (Youth after Covid-19), where El-Sherif participated as a speaker in the “Regional Dialogue: Building Resilience with and for Youth in the Middle East and North Africa” session, hosted by the Jordanian Ministry of Youth.
During the session, El-Sherif noted that Egypt is characterized by the fact that a large proportion of its population is young people.El-Sherif added that Egyptian youth is a national wealth that must be optimally exploited, noting that the state aims to invest in young people.“Investing in people is the most valuable type of investment in pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals,” El-Sherif said.El-Sherif reviewed the "Be an Ambassador" initiative launched by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in cooperation with NIGSD.El-Sherif explained that the initiative aims to build national capacities in the field of sustainable development through a series of training courses for various sectors and groups of people.

El-Sherif indicated that the initiative is divided into many levels, the first of which is the introductory level, which provides educational programs on communication skills on the institute's electronic educational platform "Estidama", then the advanced level, in which the trainee listens to lectures recorded on various sustainable development topics by the elite of the lecturers. As for the specialized level, it deals with the training of trainers program, which is direct training. The number of students for the specialized level is limited; the group does not exceed 25 students in one of the halls to ensure effective communication, taking into account the precautionary measures.El-Sherif explained that the conditions for applying to join the initiative included that the applicant should be between 18 and 35 years old, a student at an Egyptian university (public or private), or a graduate whose work is related to sustainable development, and he should have a general background on sustainable development and its importance.
