Egypt's NIGSD, APRM sign a joint MoU in areas related to governance and sustainable development

The National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD)- the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) signed recently a joint memorandum of understanding in areas related to governance and sustainable development.
Dr. Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development who is also acting as Chairperson of NIGSD's Board of Trustees said that the African Peer Review Mechanism is an important African tool for achieving sustainable development goals.
El-Said asserted Egypt's pride in its African affiliation, which always pushes it to intensify work and coordination with other African countries to exchange visions, experiences to achieve sustainable development so that Egypt actively participates in efforts to implement Africa's Agenda 2063.
El-Said indicated that the Egyptian state is keen, through the reforms it is working to implement in various sectors, to focus on advancing the human element, raising its capabilities, and developing it using the latest scientific methods.
For her part, Dr. Sherifa El-Sherif indicated that the signed MoU organizes cooperation between the two parties in several areas, including conducting scientific research on topics of common interest, and sharing resources, including human resources, to support scientific journals, periodicals, and other publications issued by either party, in addition to training. and capacity-building activities.
El-Sherif indicated that cooperation between the two parties will be achieved through developing human capabilities by holding training in areas of common interest, organizing conferences, workshops, and seminars for stakeholders, as well as organizing awareness campaigns and initiatives on sustainable development goals, good governance, and best practices.
Ms. Sarah Tawfiq Hammouda, Program Officer for Development Agenda 2063 in the Executive Secretariat of the Mechanism, received the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of Dr. Eddie Maluka, Executive Director of the African Peer Reference Mechanism (APRM).
Ms. Sarah Tawfik had participated as a speaker during the professional level training activities for the first group of the "Be an Ambassador" initiative as a representative of the African Peer Review Mechanism.
She presented the development agenda 2063 "Africa We Want" and the goals and indicators of the agenda.
Tawfik also referred to the role of the African Union and the African Peer Review Mechanism in the implementation, follow-up, and evaluation of Agenda 2063 and its relationship to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
