Planning Ministry, Al-Jalalah University Host Medical Caravan, Offering Vital Services in Giza's 'Decent Life' Project

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, in collaboration with Al-Jalalah University, organized an extensive medical caravan for early detection of chronic diseases and health awareness in the village of Al-Aqwaz in the Al-Saf district of Giza governorate, as part of the "Decent Life" national project. The caravan was attended by Dr. Yasser El Sayed, the Executive Director of Al-Jalalah Teaching Hospital, Dr. Wael El Ayat, the Caravans Coordinator at Al-Jalalah University, Dr. Mohamed Nweiser, the Director of Health Administration in Al-Saf district, Dr. Mahmoud Nasr, the Deputy Director of Health Administration in the district, and Omar Metwally, the coordinator of "Decent Life" project at the Ministry.
Dr. Jameel Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning for Sustainable Development Plan Follow-up Affairs, mentioned that the medical caravan is in line with the cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry and Al-Jalalah University in December 2023. He praised the collaboration and coordination with Al-Jalalah University and officials in Giza governorate regarding the swift organization of the medical caravan, indicating that it is targeted to organize new medical caravans in "Decent Life" villages in the near future.
The medical caravan, hosted by the family medicine unit in Al-Aqwaz village, included 40 doctors, nursing staff, and students from medical, pharmacy, physiotherapy, nursing, and applied health sciences colleges. More than 1200 citizens received medical examinations in various specialties such as cardiology, chest medicine, surgery, internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, obstetrics and gynecology, and physiotherapy. Medications were provided, 16 CT scans were performed, and 214 tests were conducted for about 44 patients. Additionally, 5 cases were referred to specialized hospitals. Four health awareness sessions were held covering reproductive health, mental health, family planning, and healthy dietary habits, benefiting 120 individuals.
The caravan witnessed significant turnout from citizens in Al-Aqwaz village and neighboring villages. Residents expressed their happiness with the organization of the medical caravan, the quality of services provided, and the ease of receiving medical examinations and medications. They expressed their wish for its repetition and praised the ongoing and planned projects under the "Decent Life" project in their village, acknowledging their contribution to improving their living conditions and the level of services provided to them.
