Egyptian Government Award Delegates Conduct Official Assessment Visit to Minya Governorate

A delegation from the Egypt Government Excellence Award, led by Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence, and Initiatives, recently visited the General Diwan of Minya Governorate to oversee the judging process of the internal excellence awards in the governorate's inaugural edition. The assessment involved 9 centers and 18 villages, with the presence of Soha Said, the Executive Director of the Award, and Dr. Abdel Hakim Radwan, the Award's Evaluation and Quality Consultant.
During the visit, Ambassador Hisham Badr held discussions with Major General Osama Al-Qadi, the Governor of Minya, to explore potential areas of collaboration between the two entities. In his remarks, Ambassador Badr commended Minya Governorate's remarkable progress across various sectors in recent years, highlighting the implementation of several national and service projects. Notable achievements included the establishment of the first sugar factory in the Middle East, the governorate's top rank in executing developmental projects in 2023, and its second position nationwide in wheat supply. He also acknowledged initiatives like the inauguration of the Samalout axis and rural development projects under the "Decent Life" initiative, aligning with the objectives of the Egypt Government Excellence Award to enhance Egypt's leadership and competitiveness through a culture of excellence.
Badr also highlighted Minya Governorate's accomplishments in the Egypt Government Excellence Award's third edition in 2022, where it ranked among the top ten for the initiative "Establishment of an Integrated Web System for Issuing Licenses and Certificates of Reconciliation on Building Violations" in the category of Best Governmental Innovative Initiative.
Soha Said, the Executive Director of the Award, underscored the expansion of the Award's administration to include local units in Minya, Al-Buhaira, and South Sinai Governorates in its second edition, aiming to deepen the institutional excellence culture across all government entities. This expansion aims to prepare entities to participate in the national award "Egypt Government Excellence Award" in its fourth edition in 2024. She emphasized the importance of establishing an excellence unit within the Governorate to sustain internal excellence and invest in local talents who contributed to the success of the Governorate's internal excellence system.
Major General Osama Al-Qadi, the Governor of Minya, reaffirmed the Governorate's commitment to achieving excellence as outlined in its strategic plan, aligned with Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development. He emphasized the state's focus on instilling a spirit of leadership and competitiveness among state employees to enhance citizen services through initiatives like the Egypt Government Excellence Award.
Notably, the Governorate received 9 nominations for the "Center and City" category and 18 nominations for the "Villages" category, with the top five from each category advancing to the field visits stage, paving the way for national-level competition in the current cycle of the Egypt Government Excellence Award in 2024.
Participants in the visit included Eng. Abdelsalam Abdel Samei, Team Leader and Quality Officer, and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Azim.
