Planning Ministry participates in the 3rd forum for strategies for transformation towards a green economy

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, represented by Mr. Sherif Daoud, Vice President of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry, participated recently in the activities of the third forum for strategies for transformation towards a green economy, in a session entitled "Drivers of the Green Economy".
During the session, Daoud explained that green projects represent 15% of the state's investment plan in the current year 2020-2021.
Daoud pointed out that the government aims to reach 30% during the next year 2021-2022, and to reach 50% by 2024-2025.
Daoud added that green projects focus on the transportation, housing and electricity sectors, including renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Doad indicated that the government has begun working on preparing the first national report on financing sustainable development, as well as cooperating with the office of the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Egypt to identify national efforts to finance the implementation of the sustainable development goals.
The Deputy Head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development indicated that the Egyptian government is seeking to formulate a clear strategy for financing the sustainable development goals.
Dawad also referred to the preparation of a package of green incentives to encourage the private sector to switch to a green economy.
