NIGSD Executive Director Explores Mechanisms of Collaboration with the Regional Director for MENA at the International Development Research Centre"

Dr. Sherifa Sherif, the Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), welcomed Mr. Wissam Al-Bayeh, the Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa (based in Amman, Jordan) at the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), to discuss various areas of collaboration between the Centre and the Egyptian government.

The meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation in line with the agreement between the Centre and the Egyptian government, complementing investment efforts in projects supporting localization related to Egypt's priority development agenda. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Sustainable Development.

Dr. Sherifa Sherif highlighted the establishment of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, its vision, and the range of training programs it offers in the field of governance and sustainable development. She also reviewed the partnerships it has forged with leading local and international centers and universities to provide high-level training programs.

Dr. Sherif emphasized the role of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development in enhancing and developing Egypt's position in the field of governance and sustainable development. Additionally, she discussed providing consultations, research, and training programs aimed at promoting a culture of sustainability and activating governance mechanisms across all sectors of the state, within the framework of implementing the goals of Egypt Vision 2030.

The meeting witnessed discussions on mechanisms to enhance cooperation between the two parties in various areas, including utilizing their scientific and practical experiences in organizing training programs, workshops, and seminars aimed at raising awareness of sustainable development goals, their application, challenges, and coping mechanisms.

It is worth noting that the activities of the International Development Research Centre are funded by the Canadian government. The Centre specializes in research in developing countries, sharing best practices and experiences in sustainable development in various countries. The Centre also supports and encourages institutions that provide solutions to developmental problems and have ideas to achieve development in different countries. The Centre aims to raise awareness of the importance of sustainable development and its connection to governance.
